The Karen Song, was penned in the 6 month lockdown of 2020 as a reaction to the ubiquitous female archetype causing anxiety and frustration on the news. The lyrics aim to highlight the hypocrisy of the original Karen in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, Mayella Ewell, and draw parallels to the current political climate. But it's not a diss track. The Karen Song is a call to action, offering a hand to Karens everywhere to join the right side of history and fight against real injustices that affect the broader community: "use your power, turn it to praxis." Change takes time, and we love to see it!
lyrics
You've been coming off all defensive
Let me assure you you're not defenceless
It might take time
The concept that you are oppressed, well
I think it's misrepresented
This might take time
See the mockingbird was defenceless
And you've weaponised what you're blessed with
You should take time
Karen
Can't you see that every injustice hasn't been just for you?
Let it give you fuel
Karen
All the anger you're teaching landed you on the news
Let it light your fuse
I want you to take the walls that surround us
Use your power, turn it to praxis
There's a kindness and there's a vengeance
You're a fighter, you've got defences
If you think that this is campaigning
What you're doing's simply complaining
You should take time
But I know that life's inconvenient
You should take a look in between it
You should take time
Karen (pre chorus)
I want you to take your pain and correct it
Don't discard it, just redirect it
You have freedom, don't disrespect it
There's a fire and there's a process
Hope you learn this
Hope that you get this

I'm so glad PP is getting some due and getting out there in the world and playing where others can find and also love them. Bouncy and punky with an edge and a humor that is properly edgy, not just gauche. Richard Weems
